چکیده
We revisit the problem of characterizing band topology in dynamically-stable quadratic bosonic Hamiltonians that do not conserve particle number. show this can be rigorously addressed by a smooth and local adiabatic mapping procedure to number conserving Hamiltonian. In contrast generic fermionic pairing Hamiltonian, such always constructed for bosons. Our approach shows non-conserving classified using known approaches models. It also provides simple means identifying calculating appropriate topological invariants. explicitly study dynamically stable but non-positive definite (as arise frequently driven photonic systems). case, each gap is characterized two distinct

Interferometric approach to measuring band topology in 2D optical lattices.
Recently, optical lattices with nonzero Berry's phases of Bloch bands have been realized. New approaches for measuring Berry's phases and topological properties of bands with experimental tools appropriate for ultracold atoms need to be developed. In this Letter, we propose an interferometric method for measuring Berry's phases of two-dimensional Bloch bands. The key idea is to use a combinatio...
متن کاملJustification of c-number substitutions in bosonic Hamiltonians.
The validity of substituting a c-number z for the k=0 mode operator a(0) is established rigorously in full generality, thereby verifying one aspect of Bogoliubov's 1947 theory. This substitution not only yields the correct value of thermodynamic quantities such as the pressure or ground state energy, but also the value of |z|(2) that maximizes the partition function equals the true amount of co...
متن کاملSecure In-Band Wireless Pairing
This paper presents the first wireless pairing protocol that works in-band, with no pre-shared keys, and protects against MITM attacks. The main innovation is a new key exchange message constructed in a manner that ensures an adversary can neither hide the fact that a message was transmitted, nor alter its payload without being detected. Thus, any attempt by an adversary to interfere with the k...
متن کاملnon-corrective approach to pronunciation
the aim of this study has been to find answers for the following questions: 1. what is the effect of immediate correction on students pronunciation errors? 2. what would be the effect of teaching the more rgular patterns of english pronunciation? 3. is there any significant difference between the two methods of dealing with pronuciation errore, i. e., correction and the teaching of the regular ...

We show that dynamical symmetry methods can be applied to Hamiltonians with periodic potentials. We construct dynamical symmetry Hamiltonians for the Scarf potential and its extensions using representations of su(1, 1) and so(2, 2). Energy bands and gaps are readily understood in terms of representation theory. We compute the transfer matrices and dispersion relations for these systems, and fin...
